Toyo Proxes R888R
Toyo Proxes R888R
Derived from the Proxes R888, the Proxes R888R by Toyo stands as a dedicated Racetrack & Autocross Only tire, crafted for driving enthusiasts engaged in track days, road racing, and high-performance driver education events. As is typical for Racetrack & Autocross Only tires, the Proxes R888R radials are not intended for use in near-freezing temperatures, snowy conditions, or on icy surfaces. It is crucial to store these tires indoors at temperatures exceeding 15 degrees F.
Proxes R888R tires boast an R-compound tread designed to rapidly reach operating temperature, delivering elevated grip levels for optimal cornering traction. The aggressive, asymmetric tread pattern incorporates massive outboard shoulder blocks, ensuring the essential lateral grip for track driving. Continuous refinement of the contact patch enhances the Proxes R888R's dry traction, contributing to improved braking, acceleration, and cornering compared to its predecessor.
While Proxes R888R radials meet D.O.T. requirements, it is advised to avoid driving in wet conditions, especially when the tires are shaved or worn, and standing water is present, as there is a risk of hydroplaning. In such conditions, drivers should exercise caution and reduce speeds accordingly.
Internally, the R888R features a two- or three-ply (depending on size) Rayon casing supporting two wide, high-tensile steel belts. A spirally-wound nylon reinforcement ply adds to the high-speed stability and durability of the tire.
Toyo Tires provides the following general set-up guidelines for the Proxes R888R:
- Operating Temperature: 160°-220° F
- Hot Inflation Pressures: 32 to 38 PSI
