The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R stands as Michelin's high-performance Streetable Track & Competition tire, meticulously crafted for supercar and sports car drivers aiming to optimize their vehicle's performance and reduce lap times. Specifically calibrated to enhance the capabilities of the vehicles it was homologated for, this tire is exclusively approved for use in those designated applications. Tailored to unlock a car's full potential in dry conditions, the Pilot Sport Cup 2 R, like all Streetable Track & Competition tires, is not to be employed, stored, relocated, or transported in near- or below-freezing temperatures.

Drawing inspiration from Michelin's motorsport tires, the Pilot Sport Cup 2 R utilizes a tread compound that elevates grip during acceleration, braking, and cornering. This high-traction compound is molded into a refined asymmetric pattern with reduced void area to enhance grip in dry conditions. The outboard shoulder, characterized by fewer lateral notches, and narrower circumferential grooves create wider tread ribs, ensuring more rubber contacts the road. The inner shoulder prioritizes wet traction, featuring deep lateral notches to evacuate water from the footprint. While Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires meet DOT requirements, it is advised to avoid driving in wet conditions with standing water, and caution, especially at reduced speeds, is recommended in such situations—especially with shaved or worn tires.

The internal construction of the Pilot Sport Cup 2 R has undergone reengineering to fully exploit the enhanced grip of the updated compound, finely tuned to complement the intended vehicle application. Increased structural rigidity provides a stable foundation to withstand the forces transmitted through the tire.

Note: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires should be stored at temperatures above 32°F (0°C). Below 14°F (-10°C), the tires should not be used, stored, moved, or shipped, as lower temperatures may lead to rubber cracking. Cold compound cracking is not covered by Michelin's warranty and occurs due to improper use or storage; any tires exhibiting this condition must be replaced.

Note: For optimal handling on both the track and the road, Michelin recommends fitting a complete set of four Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.
