Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2

The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 represents Michelin's high-performance Streetable Track & Competition tire, initially developed as Original Equipment for elite super sports cars like the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Mercedes SLS AMG Coupe Black Series, and Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid. Engineered to deliver rapid circuit times and consistent performance lap after lap, the Pilot Sport Cup 2 empowers these supercars to unleash their full potential under dry conditions.

CAUTION: While Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires comply with DOT regulations, it is strongly advised against driving in wet conditions with standing water, as the risk of hydroplaning is significant. Drivers encountering such conditions, especially with shaved or worn tires, should exercise caution and reduce speeds. Additionally, like other Streetable Track & Competition tires, these tires are not suitable for storage, service, or operation in near or below-freezing temperatures, snowy conditions, or on icy surfaces.

The tread design of the Pilot Sport Cup 2 incorporates Michelin's Bi-Compound technology in an asymmetric configuration. This technology employs different rubber compounds on the outboard and inboard regions of the tread. The massive outboard shoulders utilize a specially designed tread rubber with increased hardness for maximum adherence and exceptional dry grip on curves, especially tight corners. Notched center ribs and the inboard shoulder employ a tread rubber with a more rigid elastomer to ensure precise steering.

Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires feature the Michelin Variable Contact Patch 3.0, an evolution of the Variable Contact Patch 2.0 found in Pilot Super Sport and Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires. Variable Contact Patch 3.0 maximizes the contact patch size and optimizes footprint pressure to keep more rubber in contact with the track during cornering, ensuring superior grip in curves and tight corners.

Internally, the tire's structure comprises twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wound Twaron cord, a polyamide cord offering lightweight, high-strength reinforcement above the steel belts. Michelin FAZ Technology winds the Twaron cord around the tire circumference with variable tension, locking the tire structure into a practically inelastic belt. This maintains a constant footprint and effectively controls centrifugal force, even at high speeds.

The Pilot Sport Cup 2 features a polyester casing that combines ride comfort with responsive handling. Its 10% wider bead region, strengthened with a high modulus rubber compound, increases lateral stiffness for sporty responsiveness and precise steering.

Michelin Premium Touch Technology, developed through a special mold tooling process, enhances the outer sidewall with micro-geometry techniques that absorb light, creating contrast and shades of black with a velvet-like feel.

Certain sizes of the Pilot Sport Cup 2 offer the Michelin Track Connect® solution, a connected coaching system utilizing tire-mounted sensors to monitor tire pressures and temperatures. This system, drawing on Michelin's racing expertise, provides personalized advice on optimal tire pressure adjustments after each track session to continually enhance vehicle performance.

NOTE: Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires should not be mixed with Pilot Sport Cup, Pilot Sport Cup + (Plus), Pilot Sport Cup N-Spec, or Pilot Sport Cup ZP run-flat tires.
