Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S stands as Michelin's Max Performance Summer tire, developed in collaboration with prestigious vehicle manufacturers like Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche. This tire integrates key technologies honed in the intense competition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It caters to enthusiasts seeking to unlock the full performance potential of their sports cars, high-performance sedans, and powerful luxury vehicles. Excelling in warm dry and wet conditions, the Pilot Sport 4S, like all Max Performance Summer tires, is not suitable for service, storage, or operation in temperatures near or below freezing, snowy conditions, or on icy surfaces.
For select sizes, Michelin offers the Pilot Sport 4S with the Premium Touch sidewall treatment, identified on the "Specs" page and in search results. This treatment features a velvet-effect checkered sidewall crafted using advanced laser technology, enhancing the visual presence of the vehicle.
The asymmetric tread pattern of the Pilot Sport 4S incorporates side-by-side compounds derived from the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The low-void outer shoulder employs a new dry-focused hybrid tread rubber for enhanced dry handling and braking. In contrast, the center ribs and inboard shoulder feature a silica-infused wet compound, improving wet braking performance. The Variable Contact Patch 3.0, computer-modeled for optimized pressure distribution during turns, reduces hot spots and enhances tire life in aggressive driving.
Internally, the Pilot Sport 4S features twin steel belts reinforced by a spirally wound hybrid reinforcement of Aramid and nylon. This lightweight, high-strength reinforcement above the steel belts enhances high-speed handling, wear, and durability. The application of the cord filament is tuned specifically to balance tension and strength, while a single-ply, polyester cord casing balances ride quality and responsive handling.
Limited sizes of the Pilot Sport 4S come with Michelin Acoustic Technology, incorporating a layer of sound-absorbing foam to reduce cabin noise. These sizes are identified on the "Specs" page and in search results. Original equipment sizes utilizing the Michelin Connected Tire System, in conjunction with Michelin Acoustic Technology, can be identified by Acoustic and Bluetooth logos on the tire's sidewall. These tires include sound-absorbing foam and a sensor communicating specific tire data to the vehicle's built-in systems.
Please note that tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower should gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before any adjustments, such as inflation pressure changes, mounting, or vehicle use. Flexing specialized rubber compounds in Max Performance Summer tires during cold weather may result in irreversible compound cracking, which is not covered under warranty. Tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced. Sizes utilizing Michelin Total Performance eco-focused manufacturing methods are indicated on the Sizes tab and the tire's Specs tab.
